My Technology Showcase
A showcase highlighting the various forms of technology that I have learned to use in the Master of Arts in Educational Technology Program (MAET) and how I've used the strategies taught in this program to evaluate technology and adapt it for educational purposes.
CEP 800: Digital Story Project:
Using Windows Movie Maker, I explored how to make my own digital story by creating a slide show of photos and pictures and narrating the slideshow to tell a story. Using Vimeo, I could then upload the story onto the web and embed it on different websites including my blog on Blogger and this website, hosted by Weebly. Technology such as Windows Movie Maker could be used to help students create their own stories or display information, creating powerful learning experiences for those students and the students that watch the video. |

CEP 812: Flipped PD:
Using Educreations and Camtasia Studio, our group created two videos meant to help teachers learn how to use different pieces of technology. The one showcased is a video created by using Educreations to talk about some of the features of Educreations and how to set up an account. The link underneath leads to another video created using Camtasia Studio to help teachers and students create their own deck of flashcards on Quizlet. This video also has questions that show up every few minutes so that the viewers of the video and the creator get feedback on whether or not people are understanding the material. Educreations could be a great tool to use to have students teach each other concepts by creating these "flipped PD" videos. |
CEP 810: Personal Growth Plan (Part 6):
Using Prezi, I created a presentation about my previous experiences with technology and where I hoped to go from there. Prezi can be used to help students create an engaging presentation to report on a project or teach a new concept. |

CEP 810: PLN Visualization:
Using bubbl.us, I created a mind map relating the different parts of my Professional Learning Network and building on what I want to do in the future. A mind map like this could be used by students to create a concept map as a review or to make connections between ideas. Click the picture to see a larger view. |
CEP 812: Wicked Problem Project (Part B):
For this project, the goal was to create a podcast to talk about the Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) related to a set of technologies that I was going to use to address a significant problem in education today. The problem that I chose to focus on was to build a more conceptual knowledge of fractions with students. |
CEP 812: Data Visualization Lab:
In the Data Visualization Lab assignment, the goal was to evaluate 3 different applications to visualize data. After checking out Google Fusion Tables, Many Eyes, and Infogr.am, I decided that Infogr.am was the best in terms of user-friendliness and the quality of the finished product. Infogr.am could be used for teachers and students to use to create colorful, interactive charts and graphs. The picture shown is just a snapshot of the whole Infogr.am, cropped to help make this page load easier. |
CEP 811: Instructional Design Plan:
For this assignment, the goal was to identify a educational need that can be addressed with technology and create a plan to use certain pieces of technology to help fix this need. Using Scribd, I could upload my work onto the web and share on different websites. |

CEP 811: UDL Checklist:
Using the Universal Design for Learning guidelines, I looked back at the technology I was using for my Instructional Design Plan and evaluated it based on this criteria. Doing this helped me see how the technology I was planning on using would help students in some ways and potentially cause misconceptions in others, allowing me to plan ahead about what I would have to address while presenting this technology in order to alleviate the potential side effects that could get in the way of students building a better understanding of the topic. |
